Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Compare datasets

These are the official datasets used on the Medicare.gov Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Compare Website provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.  These data allow you to compare the quality of care provided by over 1,100 Medicare-certified inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the nation.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Compare data was last updated on Dec 12, 2018.

Announcements:

  • September 2018 update: the following 4 new quality measures have been added to IRF Compare:
    • Application of Percent of Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Patients With an Admission and Discharge Functional Assessment and a Care Plan That Addresses Function
    • Application of Percent of Residents Experiencing One or More Falls with Major Injury Medicare Spending Per Beneficiary-PAC IRF QRP
    • Discharge to Community-PAC IRF QRP
  • CMS has decided not to publish two additional quality measures, Potentially Preventable 30-Day Post-Discharge Readmissions and Potentially Preventable Within-Stay Readmissions, at this time. Additional time would allow for more testing to determine if there are modifications that may be needed both to the measures and to the method for displaying the measures. This additional testing will ensure that the future publicly reported measures are thoroughly evaluated so that Compare users can depend upon an accurate picture of provider quality. While we conduct this additional testing, CMS will not post reportable data for these measures, including each IRF's performance, as well as the national rates. For more information visit the CMS IRF QRP Public Reporting website.
